We believe in the importance of good design.

Workroom Design Studio provides full-service interior design consulting to both residential and commercial clients.  We work on both renovations and new construction, collaborating with architects, builders, artists, and craftspeople to realize our clients’ vision for their home or work environment. From the first stages of exploration to the final details of installation, we work hand-in-hand with our clients. We specialize in finding the joyful, unique, and beautiful. Through color and pattern, comfort and function, we energize the space you live and work in.

Workroom Design Studio was founded in 2018, when after several years of successful collaboration on textile, furniture, and color projects, Sally Staub and Hannah Ray merged their businesses, Sally Staub Design and Tack Upholstery Studio.  We bring individual skill sets and professional experiences to our collaboration, but share a collective vision that makes Workroom unique.  We are based in Western Massachusetts, and have extensive experience working with clients all over the Northeast, including Boston and New York.

We make it happen.

Workroom is located next to Smith College in a beautifully renovated space in Northampton, MA. Our studio includes client meeting areas and an extensive sample library.

Our ability to fit all your custom needs sets us apart. We have relationships with some of the best craftspeople in our area; if we can’t build it, we can find someone who can. We pride ourselves on our dedication to quality and detailed craftsmanship. We provide you with access to a library of textiles and wallpaper, and a catalog of furniture and building resources.

“Working with Sally and Hannah was like a dream collaboration! I wanted things to happen to our house…..and those amazing gals made it happen. Their sense of proportion, design, and efficacy go beyond anyone whom we have worked with before and we have renovated and decorated quite a few homes and apartments. From the smallest faucet to the coziest largest family sofa :this design group can do it ALL! Every minute spent in our finished home is pure pleasure. There isn’t an angle or a ray of sun that doesn’t capture and magnify the beauty and amazing detail created by Sally and Hannah.”
— Audrey
“We loved working with Sally and Hannah! We were initially attracted to their colorful aesthetic, and the final result in our home was the perfect blend of sensibility and style. Throughout the entire process, Sally and Hannah were accessible, enthusiastic, and dedicated to making our home a magical place.”
— Lindsay
“Sally and Hannah have helped make my home into a place I can’t wait to get to and share with others. They are warm, accessible and brilliantly talented; their gift is to intuitively understand what I’m looking for, even when I don’t have the words to describe it myself. I found it remarkable that Sally and Hannah took the time to interview my young daughter about what she wanted in her space – and she was enchanted with the final result. They have always stayed on or under budget, which I am also grateful for. I cannot recommend Sally and Hannah highly enough, and I constantly talk about them to all my friends.”
— Rachel
“Our home renovation started with excitement and optimism – evidenced by our Pinterest boards and color swatches. But ideas quickly turn to uncertainties and endless choices are more stressful than anything else. Enter Sally and Hannah – bringing with them a talent for listening – while gently pushing boundaries – and an ability to solve any problem. They brought the fun back into the project and the end result is a home we never could have imagined on our own, but which tells our story perfectly.“
— Janet
“Workroom Design did a fantastic job designing several rooms in my home, and an outside entertaining space as well. Sally listened to my ideas and created looks that bring me joy every time I walk into the room.”
— Amy M.
“It was such a pleasure working with Sally and Hannah. Not only do they have excellent taste and expertise, but they are extremely professional and wonderful to work with.”
— Amy S.

#tbt to our client’s cheery kitchen, brightened by a brilliant orange backsplash. Sometimes a pop of color is just what these cold and dark months call for! 🌞

Balance and harmony were key principles kept in mind while redesigning our client’s living and dining rooms. A serene ambiance was created by complementing the elegant lines in the modern wallpaper by @leejofa and vintage furniture with soft smokey gray walls.🪐
